We purchased a claw online, and we have attempted to operate it. We are able to open and close the claw, but we have to code it to stay closed when necessary. We are also figuring out how to set up the platform.
The image shown here is a rough sketch of our final prototype. However, since this design was drawn, parts have been replaced (ex: wooden claw is made of PVC pipe, metal stand is wooden). At this point, we just need to finish our new design and test its capability. As for me, I've been writing the team's daily dos and started working on the poster project for JPL.
Tests: we've tested the prototypes with "makeshift" stoppers for the pipe and we've been using the metal "legs" as the counterweight.

The virtual reality scene was created for students who have a hard time concentrating on a given task. A series of visuals and audio will be presented to the user that will stimulate the connections in the brain that allow the individual to re-engage them with the assignment after use. We chose to utilize a beach setting to provide a calm and meditative environment for the user.
